I started working on my ZJ build. Dumped my rear DANA 44a and just finished re-gearing Ford 8.8 to 4.56( that was a pain, prob spend more $$$ on the tools then it would cost me to pay for someone else to do it, no regrets tho, as i learned a lot from it). Now waiting for Dana HP30 gears and will be installing ARB locker.

I currently have RE 3.5 lift kit, bought Clayton long arm upgrade kit and thinking of which springs to run. Initially i wanted to go with Rusty's 5.5" but now thinking of maybe getting Clayton 7" springs, not sure yet tho. What do you guys think?

Also which tires should i go with 33" or 35"? I know i geared for 33" but if I'll go with 7" springs might as well go with 35s. I just can't make the decision.

I would do 5.5" springs and 35s. 3.5"-4.5" springs if you prefer 33s. Since you already have the springs, it'd probably just be cheaper to run 33s and put on some 1" spacers if you want 4.5" lift.

If you haven't already put the brackets on the 8.8, I'd recommend the Clayton's high clearance bracket kit (or fab up your own). It's nice not getting axle CA or shock mounts hung up on rocks.

Yep i got Clayton high clearance brackets tech-welded, and will need to bring it to some fab shop to finish it up as i only have 140amp welder.

I'll need to go with new springs as my RE 3.5 springs are 5 years old so it would be either Rusty's 5.5 or Clayton 7".

Anobody here have 7" lift and 35s and would go back to 5.5" lift, if so why?

7"s isnt needed when you can do 5.5-6 and trim.im running 6"s and 35s.just trim where it rubs and keep the lift lower.helps in off-camber situations.

I am finishing up my Clayton upgrade right now. I geared 4.88 and right now I am running 4.5" springs and 35s, but fender trimming is next on my list.
