You need to make sure the input shaft lengths are the same. Another thing ti keep in mind is that early XJ 231's had a 21 spline output even with the six cylinder. I believe they stopped doing that in 88' or 89' though so you should be alright. You will more likely than not, almost a guarantee, have to take the input shaft and sun gears from your current transfer case and swap it into the 231. Hope that helps man
Could'nt i just cut the shaft down? I read on mallcrawlin that someone had done it. Why swap the planetary gears, the shaft O.D. and spline count is the same, it's just too long by 3/4"?
I cut 3/4" off the nose of the input shaft with a high speed die grinder, faced , and chamfered it. All went well and only took about an hour. I took pics but, I'm trying to figure out how to post them.
make a photo book acount... then when you upload a pic it gives you 4 tags that have different usages. copy the one that starts with IMG into the text you are trying to post.
