I am having a problem with my 98 Limited, a constant "rear lamp failure" beeping at me everytime i start my jeep. Someone smashed up the rear end in an accident and the light stopped beeping, then one day i was driving and my rear hatch poped open so i got out, slammed it shut and ever since then the lamp failure has been beeping again. Anyideas what may be wrong?

check to see if the hi-mount stop lamp is still working, and that all 3 bulbs are still ok. The lamp outage module will detect if even one bulb of the 3 is burned out. Or maybe you have a bad wire/connector as a result of accident damage.

Just a theory based on the info provided.

little bit different question, i do not have a rear lamp failure, and i have checked many time for burnt bulbs and the only one out it 1 licease plate bulb, but when i turn my head lights on the turn signals blink faster then when the head lights are off...

not a huge deal but it buts me when people think i have a turn signal burnt out when i really dont.

I have had that fault for 2 years now since my rearend went nuclear and caught on fire. I had to rewire everthing from the rear seat back. I still can't figure it out!!! [smilie=bal_ask.gif]

with my "95 ZJ Limited , i had a loose connector to the taillamp assembly. I removed the spare tire and behind that is a panel to take off as well. After adding some di-electric grease ,i plugged it back together and taped the connector. Rear Lamp Failure message then disappeared ...........I hope this helps. ;)

check the side marker lights, had the same problem on mine, fixed it by replacing a bulb for the markers.

this info system is ok, it let's you know about a problem....just does not give enough info to solve the problems.

Behind the spare tire?? did u have to take down the plastics? I never thought of checkin that side, i checked the corner right side, opposite to the spare tire. I'll check behind the spare tire. Thanks.

Wrong bulb in the front park turn lamp (below the headlamp). The fronts use a 1295NA (NA for amber) bulb not a 1157NA/3057NA bulb. The resistance is different when the park lamps are on.
