It still shimmies when using the brake. Now I can hear a slight grinding noise so I know something is up with the brakes. I think the shop I brought it to was lazy. After they put the new tires on it they checked the alignment again and the toe was in by almost 2 degrees! Some how they missed it with the old tires! Not that the tires make a difference. So that is what chewed the hell outta my old tires.

Now today I get to try and chase down why it dies on me when cruise control is on. Took a 200 mile round trip with my wife and daughter and it died 3 times on us. Only when using CC. After it died I would pull over to the shoulder and try to start it. It would crank but not fire. Listened for fuel pump and that was working fine. Wait about 2 minutes and it would fire right up and drive away. No CEL or any funny noises or anything. It would just die. Then start back up and run fine! Drove all they way back with out the CC and it never died once.

Also I am going to take my wheels and tires off and check out the front brakes myself. See what is possibly causing the shimmy when I brake. Hope I find it so I can fix it.

Well I finally got around to swapping my t-stats. Took the old 195* out and put the new 180* in! Glad I did cause the old gasket and old t-stat were no good. T-stat was stuck partially open. Probably why it ran cool all the time. The gasket had worn away so much it was leaking. It would eat a little coolant every now and then and I couldn't figure out where it was going till now. It would sit on the motor and heat up and evap. Fixed that with new gasket.

Drove it around for a good 2 hrs to get things good and heated up and also to check for leaks and other stuff. No leak anymore and also the temp stays a constant 180-185*!

I also noticed something else. It seems to have more power while cruising at hwy speeds. Like driving around with the OD off. Thought I had OD off so I hit the over ride button and it took it out of OD. Hit it again and it dropped into OD. I wouldn't think this would give me any more power over the 195*. Not that the extra power bothers me.

That new t-stat should help with the heat wave were having!
That's what got me to put it in. While idling it would creep up past 220 until I gave it a little throttle then it would cool down. Now it hardly ever reaches 190! Getting everything together for the e-fan swap! A buddy of mine is giving me a taurus fan!

Going to be making a ~200 mile round trip today. Going to run to Cloquet to check out the new aquarium store there then run to Duluth for the day. May come home with some new aquarium inhabitants may not.

Cool! E Fan will be nice!

What kind of fish, salt or fresh?

Freshwater. I am waiting till I move into my own house to start up a saltwater tank. Too much money to sink into a saltwater set up to have to take it down when I move! Gives me time to also figure out exactly how I wanna go! For now I think I am going FOWLR (fish only with live rock) set up or maybe some easy low light corals and fish.

Trip went great but I am really motivated to do the e-fan swap. Even with my 180* t-stat and fresh coolant in town driving was a killer and it was only about 74*. Temp gauge would creep up past 210 until I could hit the higher speed areas then it would cool right down again.

I am a little surprised with my mileage today. I traveled a total of 265.7 miles on 11.65 gallons of 91 octane! That was a mix of in town driving, with extended idle time at stop lights, and hwy speeds of ~75 mph.

I had 75 gallon salt water in my old house in Iowa. I had a good amount of live rock. I started with aggressive fish, eels, triggers, lion fish etc. Later I converted it to more of a reef tank with lots of critters and colorful fish like clowns and angels. I eventually went back to an aggressive tank because the fish were easier to keep. Salt water is a ton of work but once you get a good tank set up its a lot of fun.

Well yesterday Plum Broke spent the day at a muffler shop. Put new exhaust on it. Total cost to me was $150. That includes the $20 tip I gave him. He was going to save the cat for me but it disintegrated as he was removing the old exhaust. The internals fell out and the cat split in two. 13 yrs of salt will do that to a vehicle!

It is so fawking loud. Does not sound anything like a ZJ would be expected to sound. I got so many compliments in the last 18 hrs since it was done. Even a Sheriff complimented it when he pulled me over! I got a verbal warning from him only. Told me to "keep it down around town, other than that sounds great!"

I don't think I gained anything performance wise from this but I definitely saw an increase in MPG. I drove 72 miles home after it was done. I have gone this route many times and the best mpg I could get before was 17.4 mpg @ 70-75mph. It was rainy and really windy, I averaged 19.6mpg @ 70-75mph!

The day has finally come. The mechanical fan has failed on Plum Broke. Glad I noticed before any major damage could have been done.

Driving around today I noticed Plum was running a little hotter than normal. The fan never kicked in even when the temp climbed past 230*. Went to the auto parts store to check on prices of a new fan clutch and was quoted $130! Stealership wanted $180 and couldn't have it in for 3 days! So I up and ordered Plum a new e-fan. Went with the one RockZJ went with.

Sounds like it should be in about Friday.

Country-boy ---hate to tell you this , but the fan that Rock bought burned up onhis way to Rausch and I had to run him the mechanical fan off my 93 ZJ to get him going again. That e-fan is just too small and not designed to run all the time like a ZJ needs. He barely had a couple hours running on it when it let loose. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, wish I would have known I would have posted sooner!!
