Tranny Flush?

Ok so about a month ago I took a 4x4 adventure into the snow, and after a while of running back and forth through gears I noticed that I only had 3rd gear? I turned it off and let it sit for 15mins, sure enough all my gears were back. So it never did it again till sunday on my 4x4 run, after the mud bog i lost gears again, when the tranny was warm. I let it sit and sure enough they came back... So tonight I go up and resque one of my freinds trucks from the bush, and I let my other buddy drive my jeep back, while I drive the stuck truck back to my freinds home (he's at work). then I get in and drive and my trannys not shifting up... it's reving till about 4000 then shifting, and when you let go of the throttle it will neutral then when you give it gas it'll rev up then engage? I know a change of fluids is in order, but should I get the tranny flushed? I'm not excited to spend $2000 on a tranny rebuild...

It surprised me that the auto trannys can get funky when they are a pint or pint and a half low. I've not owned an auto tranny myself in over 25 years and I'd love to pull that 42re out and put an AX or NV 5 speed in there, just no time or money for that right now.

Do you have a external cooler, other than the factory cooler inside of the Rad.?? If NOT it sure seems like a good idea. I put a B&M supercooler on my ZJ after I had my tranny rebuilt. Also might be a good idea to get your tranny flushed & filter changed and add 1 or 2 bottles of LUCAS transmission stop leak/NO-slip when you refill your tranny. STUFF WORKS GREAT
