I headed up above Bountiful to do a bit of snow wheeling with the Utah Jeep Crew today.

I was going to paint some jeep parts, but play is more fun than paint.

These pics were above Bountiful, about 15 minutes north of Salt Lake City. The trail we normally take (with drop offs and steep inclines) is not safe in the winter. So we played around at the base for a bit, then headed up Skyline (a paved road).

About 4 miles up we ran into a polaris razor that was severely stuck in the snow. One of the JK's winched him out. Then another one of our members found some teenagers stuck in a stock TJ. The formed a chain of wranglers to pull them up and out of the area they were stuck in.

With a day off, and some semi-warm weather, I decided it was time to paint the flares and bumper. They previously had just been gel coated white. They come ready for paint.

I started by taking the bumper and flares off. As the rear section of the flare is only accessible to remove if the rear interior panels are taken off, I decided I would just mask those off and paint them on the Jeep.

The bumper is off, this is just another pic of the winch cradle ready to go when that time comes:

Parts laid out on the floor:

The rear section still in place:

After the first coat of paint, you can see the masked off jeep in the background.

I just spray painted it. It took about 6 cans of spray paint, and 2 cans of clear. They were duplicolor cans I bought from Napa for $6 a piece, so it was a pretty inexpensive paint job. My color was stone white, not all of the local auto stores had it in stock:

A couple of pics from early today. I have the D-rings and mounts off for now. I want to paint them and let them cure for a bit before I put them on.

The next project: I bought hood and hatch struts and will install them in the next few days. I still need to get my JKS quicker disconnects on as well.

I was sick of holding my hood up with my head. I also smacked my head on the rear hatch a couple of weeks back, it was time for new struts:

SO CLEAN! I freakin' love your WJ....makes me jealous and I'm serious!
Yeah, now it is almost ready to rash on the rocks in Moab. GSW2011 here I come!!! Are you going to lead any groups this year? And that is a huge compliment, especially coming from you. Thanks!

A group from the Utah Jeep Crew went this last Saturday. They started at 4 PM. They attempted the Old Ward Canyon trail, and had to abandon a JK for a few hours to make their way down for gas for the rest of the rigs. They didn't get out until ~5 AM... I am glad they were safe. We will be hitting it up again, but after that I think the group will wait until spring.

I have a set of JK Moab wheels with MTs on them. I still have yet to test fit them, I will likely need wheel spacers. I just like the clean look of those wheels.

Here is the closest pic to a straight on that I can find right now, the tires have just a bit of clearance. The flares keep it street legal now.

Word. It's wider then I thought. In some of the photos it looked like the body was way wider then the wheel base. Looks good bro.

Yeah, a few of my pics have been from weird angles and it made the body look wider that the track.

Cool, we'll post up when we are hitting it again. If you haven't joined the Utah Jeep Crew on JeepForum and Facebook, do it. They are a great group of jeepers locally that like to wheel together.

You must like my sig :D

The ironic thing is that I now drive a Honda...haha.
My Camaro was my DD until about 2 years ago. Driving that thing in Utah winters was like attempted suicide. I am lucky that after 13 years of DD that thing I am still alive.

I bought an 04 TL in Jan 09 with 37k on it. The original owner babied it, it was mint. I have never enjoyed a car so much. I have always teased about Honda's though, but I am sold. I keep thinking I should change my sig, but I still think it is funny.
