I am going to look into that! I really dont want to buy new ones when there is nothing wrong with them other than the oxidation

We had a few from Pennsylvania last year....it's worth the trip just to wheel in Moab IMO.
Ty, I completely agree man. I have never been but I have friends who have gone and they say the same thing. I may be heading to Cali for the off-road races if I end up helping a local crew so well see what it all brings about

Good deal! Youll like the new gear sets, its nice having that driveability again. Will they let you sit in on the gear setting? Ive watched a few in the past and thats how I learned how to do them

They put all new seals and bearings in. I don't think it is a housing issue because it didn't make this sound before.

When you let off of the gas, it sounds like the gears are just not meshing correctly, like a jet engine is slowing down.
They are howling a bit then? The gears arent setup correctly if thats the case. Then again, some gear sets are louder than others but there should be no howling from the gear set

Good deal. Keep us posted! And if he ends up figuring out why it was doing that post it up for everyone. Were the tolerances within spec? I am going to assume so given his track record. Ahh 44A's, gotta love them!

I assume that the front yoke will just come off and can be swapped without cracking the case...If not, I guess I am pulling it apart again. Has anyone done this?
IIRC its a 33mm socket or something like that. I can get the numbers tomorrow for you, I just have to look in my tool box. Now this is assuming the earlier yoke nuts are the same. Let me know if you want that size and ill get it for you. Its for a 1/2" drive the one I used. Leverage is your friend with those nuts
