Yeah, I was checking that out on summit after failing to do so for a few weeks...

I am trying to find more info on it right now. It looks like it has one reprogram setting, and isn't really adjustable at all. So I guess I can't play around too much with the shifting points or timing curves, but this is the only one available so I will probably do it when I have the $ set aside.

EDIT:There may be more features that I thought, still researching it...

Well, bad news to report.

Six states put everything together on Thursday (new front and rear gears, and a new rear hydrolock). The rear pattern looked fine, but the gears were making sound. They tried again, and it still was making sound. They re-set the gears again on Friday, and the rear end was still howling. I picked it up today as they thought it was done.

After getting up to 40, it didn't sound right. When I let off of the gas, it started howling very loud. It sounds like a jet engine slowing down. I turned around and left it at their shop. I hope they can get is fixed early next week...

Any thoughts, do you think the gear set is defective? Six states has a good reputation for their work. I don't know why the rear end is giving them so much trouble.

They put all new seals and bearings in. I don't think it is a housing issue because it didn't make this sound before.

When you let off of the gas, it sounds like the gears are just not meshing correctly, like a jet engine is slowing down.

They are howling a bit then? The gears arent setup correctly if thats the case. Then again, some gear sets are louder than others but there should be no howling from the gear set

The guy working on it is my neighbor, he has been doing this for years. He runs the back shop, and has been great to work with. He says that he has had some problems setting up gears in the 44HD in the past, but this is the toughest time he has had with one.
It is frustrating to not have it back yet, but I am hopeful that tomorrow yeilds better outcomes.

When I stopped by on Sat to test drive it, I was able to check out the old spider gears in the rear carrier. WOW, there are two teeth that were severly damaged.

Well, it is howling but I am driving it for now. They ordered another set of gears from Yukon and will put them in on Thursday.

Good deal. Keep us posted! And if he ends up figuring out why it was doing that post it up for everyone. Were the tolerances within spec? I am going to assume so given his track record. Ahh 44A's, gotta love them!

Yeah, he said everything looked dead on, I guess we will try another set. They had to postpone until tomorrow as the parts aren't in.

They had it up on four jack stands to listen to the drivetrain. They said my t-case was making some noise as well. So I picked up a used 247 for $150 for now, and tossed that in last night. I will fill it with fluids tonight and take it for a drive. I split the case first to make sure there wasn't any major damage, and it looks ok. Chain is a little streched, but I will re-build mine and swap again.

I have never cracked a t-case before, so it was interesting. They really aren't that complicated. The new case has the CV output to the front driveshaft, and I need to change that.

I started to panic a little last night after getting the t-case in. I assume that the front yoke will just come off and can be swapped without cracking the case...If not, I guess I am pulling it apart again. Has anyone done this?

yeah there isnt much to em, and the driveshaft yoke for the front has a nut just undo the nut and pull it off and put the other one on, pretty simple

IIRC its a 33mm socket or something like that. I can get the numbers tomorrow for you, I just have to look in my tool box. Now this is assuming the earlier yoke nuts are the same. Let me know if you want that size and ill get it for you. Its for a 1/2" drive the one I used. Leverage is your friend with those nuts

Thanks Rock. Read your post, then headed over to the shop. It came right off with an impact gun. I put some thread lock on then snugged it back up.

Well, after driving the Jeep for a few months now, I can't stand the sound of these stupid gears. I found out my bro knows the guy who does gears at the local Jeep dealership. I popped the cover off and he stopped by after work. He brought gear paint with him. I was very upset when I saw the pattern. It is way too deep on the coast side, and he said my backlash is a little bit excessive. I called Six States last Monday and had them order yet another set of gears. They will be putting in the third set now, I hope they can get it right.

I love the drivability with 4.56's but cannot stand to drive this thing anymore with the noisy gears.

get any pics of the pattern? I just did my 44a gears and got a pretty decent pattern. A buddy of mine who has set up ~14 44a's says that the BL is ideal at .005". Anything tighter (0-.003") will howl. I sent him pics of my pattern and he said they looked great and my BL was .005". Hope you figure this out!

here is my pattern

Here are my pics...the acceleration side looks good, the coast side looks really bad.
