Nope, just the limited slip. It's a completely stock hd44 in good condition. I can take a bunch of pictures for you after I pull it out.

Since it has different gears than my junk D35, I guess I should probably get the front axle from you as well so at least they will match. Always good to have spare parts anyway. No need to take pics since I'm sure it looks just like every other D44a. Let me know when you want to part with them and how much.

Sounds good, my cvs are poo though in my front 30 but you would want to put u joints in anyway. I think it's like the 3rd pair that's broked on me [smilie=censored.gif]

My D30 has U-joints. I wonder if I can just swap the axle shafts and joints?

Yezzzur! They are a direct swap and would be a better choice for that 30 anyways! I think you have yourself a nice set of axles man.

Sounds great. Now all I have to do is scare up an Aussie for that D44a and I'm in business (not that I can't run it like it is for a while).

Just looked him up. Got this off his last post:

Aussie is as good as gone, the arms are still here. They now fully adjust, the joints are cleaned, rubber bushings are still in good shape, these things are ready to go! $150 plus shipping. These are ...
Oh well. There will be others.

Yup, always is. Have you checked ebay at all? Not sure what they are running for on there [smilie=bal_ask.gif]

Wait, didn't you say this is a traction lok rear? If so, I've got to change out the carrier too. For the extra cost of doing that, I'd be better off just running the D44a w/ TL for now until something better comes along (like maybe the money to setup that 9" I have out in the shed). I did hear some rumors on another board about a selectable locker that might be available for the D44a sometime in the hopefully not so distant future.

If you get a chance, PM me and let me know what you want for both front and rear so I can start "budgetting" for it.

Gary.

selectable for a 44a, probably not. especially if you heard it on JU

HAHAHA, flippin' great. On the selectable 44, I haven't heard anything pertaining to that. I'll send you a pm about pricing and pick up.

that has been floating around for a long time now and still nothing about getting them in the US. That is the main reason I ditched my 44A, no aftermarket support. All in all its a strong axle IMHO. You can buy chromoly shafts from Randy's R&P and they are Yukon's. Good luck!

So the Clayton LA kit for my ZJ came in a few weeks ago so the other weekend Maxx and I decided to start installing what we could while we wait for my 231 to come out of Pat’s TJ. Overall it went very smooth and I got a bunch of pictures of the install for everyone to check out:

First things first let’s laugh at the tonka toy next to the monster truck

Image

To fit the Clayton unibody stiffeners we needed to cut part of the brackets off of KOR Rock Rails since they were in the way. I’m selling these to my brother anyway so we’ll build some new brackets when the time comes. Cut away!

Image

Picked up some gloss black spray paint from Lowe’s, let’s start painting the cross-member, control arm brackets, and spacer.

Image

Put the jack under the transfer case to release pressure on the drive-train so that we could unbolt the old cross-member and tc mount.

Image

Whoa! Don’t let this lion out of the cage! ;) Now bolting the new cross member, tc mount, ca mounts.

Image

Now that everything is bolted and welded in, time to sand down the contact spots for the unibody stiffeners.

Image

Maxx is probably laughing for two reasons in this picture

Image

And part of it sanded down before we start lining up the stiffeners

Image

And now with everything grinded down, welding time. Go Maxx!

And some of the finished product on the driver side stiffener, look at those purdy welds

And the finished product

The install on the first part of my Clayton went great. Since we have the stock exhaust still on my jeep we decided to hold off on the passenger side until we cut that sob off since we wouldn’t be able to grind or weld everywhere we needed too. I’ll be sure to keep you guys posted as we continue on the build. Any questions or comment and feel free to post up. If you need any more pictures I can post more as well [smilie=bal_cool.gif]
