wrong wrong wrong.
The 247 is a quadra-trac transfer case, but when you add the vari-lok front and rear axles it makes the quadra-drive package.
There is no "quadra-drive" transfer case, it's just a 247/quadra-trac case.
99-04 anyway. I stopped paying attention when they got rid of the solid front axle.
You can put a 231, 242, or 242hd in it. The 242hd iirc was only offered in 03 with the v8. The 231 is 2hi, 2hi-pt, N, 4lo-pt, and the 242 adds the 4hi-ft. If you want the 242, be aware that the early - 93-96ish ones are a little different internally, and if you disconnect your front driveshaft it'll allow your jeep to roll while in park.
The other thing you're going to need to be aware of is the input shaft length. Apparently there is a short, medium, and long, and I haven't seen anyone with a definitive chart as to which cases have which. All I know is that you may be cracking both cases to swap the input shaft.
Also, you may need to source the correct shift linkage. I haven't researched that part yet.
I've got a 99wj with the 247 in it, and I have a 231 out of a 93zj sitting in my garage, waiting to get torn down and rebuilt for the swap.
