im in the process of deciding what my tax money is going to go towards and i started looking at lockers on Rustys offroad. I have a couple questions that i couldnt find an answer to. For each axle they have at least 2 different "set ups". like with the d30 it shows one with (3.73+) next to it and one with (3.54-) next to it. What does this mean?? Gearing im guessing? And second question.. When you use a front and rear locker do they each have their own button or does it run off of one source? And lastly, unfortunatly my jeep is my daily driver so i have to limit what i do to it. So how will this affect my on road driving....gas mileage...

The gear ratios for the lockers refer to the carrier. Be sure you get the riggt one so it fits. What locker are you looking at? I wouldn't personally buy a locker from kRustys as they may be over priced (third party)
Depending on locker STYLE determines on road behavior, as well as front vs rear. Both?
LOCKERS
Selectable lockers $$$
ARB: air locker requires air source can buy kit for 900+ each. This can be turned off on road not effecting road manners.
Ox: Is a gear actuated locker on and off roughly same price
Auburn eccted: "É"-lectric locker. Same as other two, $$
You will pay for selectability for sure.

Full time lockers - not great for up front on a dd
Detroit: stout design been around like all full time lockers you need to change your driving a tad. I would drift a lifted grand any ways. Basically ease into turns if you gas you'll churp the tires. I wouldn't put one up front especially a DD.
Spool: deletes carrier no give always locked probably not good for dd.
Lincoln: weld spider gears for free and wala traction time. Rear only probably not for you.

Lunch box lockers
Allows ratcheting through turns to save tires. 200-350
Lockright/powertrax: cheap works on road ok kinda noisey good bang for buck.
Aussie: best of class same style stronger perhaps.

Probably didn't Describe enough you should get the jist though.

alright i just looked at the PowerTrax locker. and it seems legit. too bad its full time...In your opinion. When based on quality and price...remembering that its for a DD....whats my best option?

x2 ^

I personally like thelunchbox locker upfront its not to noticeable on road but selectable is usually the most desireable for DDs.

For the rear on the other hand its not a big issue... ive driven jeeps w welded rears and its not something you notice unless you try to. gas it through a turn or something. it wasnt any different then the 89 pony w posi my friend had.

plenty of people have lunchbox lockers front and rear dds with no issue.. you just drive it like- well like a Jeep!

i vote Aussies front and rear for quality and $
Or Ox/E-locker upfront w Aussie in the rear. i think ARBs are way over priced but also a good option. Id get a compressor and tank big enough to handle locker + on board air though.

the thing about full time lockers or lunchboxers is that they have no external parts to fail ie wiring shift cable or air lines pump etc etc. oh and massive price dif

ill sell you a used lunchbox for cheap if you have the dana turdy 5 in the rear. honestly id ditch that pos before spending money on it but mine held up for a good bit of abuse on 33s...
