On my '97 ZJ Limited I would like to remove the pass. side D-pillar trim piece to repaint it as it's peeling badly. The rest of the paint is great. Can anyone give directions, or possibly pics telling/showing how to remove it without doing any damage?
Thanks in advance.

just pull them off, they are gonna be a pita, i suggest goin to the salvage yard and pulling a set and see how they come off, they should just pop right out.
Okay, thanks. I thought of that, but I figured someone on here would know from experience.

Ive heard that there are clips under there that break real easy.
Any idea where I might get a diagram or print-out showing me before I break something that's hard to replace? Sorry to sound like an arse, but this is my baby.
Thanks in advance.

There is a special tool called a "trim stick" that is use to pry panels, and trim. Its about 3 or 4 bucks, and you can find it either online or maybe your local Parts store.

The inner trim panel must be removed. Under that you will see two 1" holes in the metal behind the inner trim panel. Looking into the holes you will see a speed nut attached to the outside trim panel. You have to use a socket to remove the speed nut from the plastic stud. Be VERY careful as the studs will break off the trim panel very easily.

If you just pull or pry on the outer trim panel you will break off the plastic studs and then have to replace the sail panels
