thanks for letting me in now the issue I'm having hope somebody can help. ok so i have 93 with the 318 awd and i have a major problem, i have replaced the fuel pump, filter, cps, coil, pulled the injectors, have done a fuel pressure test, stays steady at 39-40 pounds at idle, and 45 roughly at 2grand rpm, ok the problem she will start up fine most of the time but when she warms up temp gauge gets to 125 she does not want to idle, nor go down the road smoothly,if i keep constant pressure on the gas she runs but rough, but as soon as i let off the gas she falls flat on her face, then takes quite a few cranks to get her started again and then runs rough as all get out, nobody in my realm of friends who all drive and build jeeps has a clue because they all drive the standard Cherokee 4.0 so nobody i know knows anything about these monsters, i have sunk roughly 300.00 in her in the last two days and still the same outcome usually a smooth start up and then bam on her face, I need help BAD PLEASE AND FAST today I/we pulled the iac again and cleaned it some more acts a lil different but not much... i have now been told by 5 different jeep forum sites by a mass of people that she needs a new.. battery, alternator, she also needs a new tcs (temp control sensor) to she needs a new cam sensor.... i have now thrown 340.00 dollars into her with no good result I'm at the end of my finances with her... so if anybody on here can pinpoint it i would greatly appreciate it,,,, and no i have not run a diagnostic on her at this point i cannot afford it, but with all these parts people are saying i need if i replace them all pretty much the whole engine compartment will be brand new.... HELP PLEASE .... and it is not throwing codes besides for the things i have unplugged and plugged back in....

..

I had a problem with rough idle when my '99 V-8 GC was fairly new but it never died. The dealer re-flashed the computer and it ran well after that. Sorry I couldn't of more help!

I know how to make the old Jeep Wagoneers run... Don S..

I had the 02 sensor replaced before a smog test and the rig had the same problem almost didn't pass. The mechanic disconnected the battery for a few minutes, reconnect then sent me out to run it and 40 mph for at least 10 minutes. It worked.

Hope this helps

If the temp guage is reading 125oCelsius..... then its running way too hot - it's overheating!.........If it's runninning 125oF, then it's too cold.....check out the thermostat, for starters........

How does it run when its running about 100oCelsius/210oF???? ... that's the temp it should be running at.

Running with a bad vacuum leak will lead to overheating due to running overly lean, also once the cold start-up time is over the PCM will adjust, within limits for normal idle - vacuum leaks will cause it to be too lean to run..... check for vacuum leaks like Clay said.

Have you tried the key turned on/off three times then left on to read any codes???

Have you checked the sec. sys?

Hopefully you've already fixed your ZJ, if not try the security system trick.
Go to the back liftgate and insert the key and slowly turn to the right 2X.

Also, what spark plugs are you running? If anything BUT STANDARD CHAMPION R12YC's, such as Platinum-type you will have probs eventually.

Or, as someone pointed out, could be a bad vac leak.
Good Luck!

Instead of throwing parts at it, do some diagnosis of the different systems that would cause your symptoms. . Start with ignition system, vacuum lines, fuel system, fuses, grounds, then start doing some voltage and resistance checks on sensors such as Coolant temp sensor, crank sensor, throttle position sensor and intake air temp sensor, map, etc.
