I've ripped off the stock exhaust twice now, and want to know if anyone has better ideas for how to route it for better ground clearance. I have to stay NJ emissions legal, but I'm open to suggestions otherwise

oh darn, well there goes the out the hood idea... well, the best thing you can do is try to figure out where the exhaust is making contact. then look to see if there is room to move it up. if all else fails build some exhaust skid plates.... lol

are you ripping the tail pipe off because of departure angle, or are you grabbing the muffler when going over rocks? NJ emissions is probably just no check engine light and having a cat. As long as you have all the parts they shouldn't care where you put them.

grabbing the muffler

both times it has happened i havent really been wheeling it. both times i've hit something with the muffler. the second time it hit the muffler and pushed the rest of the piping back onto the axle

right now i'm thinking muffler and putting a turn out before the tire, i just dont know where i would hang it

Gains don't impress me unless I have the dyno slip or time slip from the track.
I was looking at a slimline standpoint and something not as disposable as a glasspack
understood - that was my assumption as well. i was hoping to tuck a muffler next to the 'frame rail' but i'm not sure how much room that actually would save

Not sure how thick your current muffler is, but you can check also on Flowmaster's site. Still an oval case, but the thickness differences may buy you room. Besides, they're so sturdy it would almost be impossible to trash.

the current muffler (a dynomax) is perfectly fine, it just pulled off the pipe after the cat. i'm just looking for a way to keeping it from hitting before i hit something else that's sturdier first
