I have to fix this about once a year.
Depends what mods you have done. In my case it is a Leach pipe and relocated rear track bar. The pipe crosses real close to the bar. And at least once a year I smack the exhaust hard on things, and this causes the muffler/tailpipe assembly to rotate from the cat connection on back. The 'loop' up over the trackbar gets laid more sidewise. The the track bar hits. Solution is to twist the tailpipe and muffler back upright again, and resecure things.

HTH. May not be 'the' solution, but it is 'a' solution.

I've gone to a couple muffler places about getting the 3" job done. They say it won't fit. They recomend a 2.5" setup. So my question is do you have to have a lift for that 3" system to fit?

Ditto on Tigger's advice, except mine rotates at the muffler output. I was able to spin the entire "bend that clears the trackbar" portion to give me some more trackbar room. Then I double-clamped it at that junction. I also replaced the rubber muffler hanger/insulator at the vary back by the bumper as it was slightly drooping.

All of the rattle/clanks associated with the exhaust anyway are now gone

Ummm .. Then don't take your ZJ there. Mopar sells a complete 3" cat-back c/w new muffler for the ZJ. Factory PN, fits a V8 ZJ with or without any modifications. If it didn't fit, they wouldn't sell it. But they use a high quality mandrel bent tailpipe, and the fit is very close, but it does fit. Also available through kolak if you want to see about saving a few $$.

I would spend the extra and buy a kit that fits, rather than have a local shop try and bend a pipe. The space is very limited, and there is little room for error really.
