I know it's a common problem on late model ZJs but I haven't heard about it much on the early ones. You might have some additional problems contributing to it too.
No, the '93 model year had a messed up set up with the oil level and the way it wired the coolant bottle too. The oil level sensor is located in the oil pan so if you sit on a hill a certain way the oil will sit in the pan a certain way away from the sensor and the thing will think the oil level is low. I know this because I have a '93 also. To boot, if you install the sensor in too many threads it will be upside down and always read low. Ask me how I know that one.
The coolant sensor in the bottle on the '93 model year has a resistor built into it. So this means that you can't just cut and splice the wires together to make the Vehicle Information Center think the bottle is always filled, you actually have to either find the right resistor to put in line (I don't know what it is) or go to a junkyard and find a working one (the dealer probably doesn't carry it anymore because its more than 10 years old).
