We ran Minor Threat and Green Day out in Area BFE on Sunday...I got some good pictures but I need to get them from my brother's camera.

These pictures are from the first obstacle of Helldorado.

Yeah....but the other 2.5" of lift comes from the coil spring buckets that sit 2.5" higher off the axles than stock....wasn't sure how to say that lol

Yeah, that's true, but it hasn't been too much of an issue...I'm still able to keep all the tools I need to pull my Jeep apart on the trail, all the fluids, and spare shafts.

Well it was just going to be too much of a PITA to cut the stock ones off the stock axles, and weld them on the new axle. Instead I just made some new ones with the CA mounts.

We actually didn't do Helldorado, we just did the first obstacle on there to get to Minor Threat. I'm sure I'll do it next time I'm down there though. I did lose my driver's side mirror on Green Day though, so I didn't make it through the trail scratch-free. I did every obstacle on Minor Threat and Green Day.

to be honest, I've never done anything out at BFE other than Upper Helldorado (and lower years ago when you could), the wash just above upper helldorado on your way out to the road (no idea the name) and Coyote. Jeremy bought BFE right around the time I sold me buggy and the trail scouting crew was Tracy Jordan, Josh Ayres and a bunch of other guys my buggy had no business trying to keep up with.

 

:lol: Yeah, it's fun out there, and they sure did come up with some good trails....I do want to try Coyote Canyon....but I don't know how well that would go over :???: . Green Day is definitely a trail worth while to do, way fun out there and has some pretty tough obstacles. I don't know the names of any of the obstacles on it, but I put my Jeep on it's side on one of them, right after an older Bronco just broke down.

When are you headed down to Moab next?

 

I'm heading down October 10-14 and then again over Thanksgiving. The 10th-14th is going to be a remote trip starting down in Beef Basin and coming up through Cheshire Park (via impossible hill), out Elephant Hill and then up through Lockhart Basin, Dark Canyon, Lockhart Canyon and Chicken Corners. It'll be about 100 miles of dirt and 4 days on the trail. Thats kind of the reason I have my current ZJ is so I can do things like that. My old rig wasn't set up to carry enough gear/beer to spend 4 nights on the trail and cover long distances.

I'm going to try and get out to BFE over Turkey day though. I may toss in a front lock right for that trip.

Well I am glad you asked....I just started my side job custom fabricating bumpers, rock sliders, roof racks, and whatever else people want.

For the exact rear bumper that I have with the reverse lights, tow hitch, and the d-rings, I'd do it for $525. I could build one to my rig so it's ready for ya if you'd like. Give me a call if you are interested.

It's not a necessity. If it ever comes down to it I can pick up a protofab from Kev for a really good price.

Keep building stuff though. One off stuff is hard to make a profit on, eventually you'll have to go Kevin's route and jig stuff up and pay someone else to fabricate it.

 

Yeah, I've definitely got a lot to do since this is what I plan on going into...but I've gotta finish up my degree first so I can have something to fall back on just in case.

How does it look like that to you?!?! Haha...What picture looks like a D30 or D35/44a?

I am actually running D44's front and rear with Chromoly Shafts up front....still need to see if I can find some for the rear since it is out of a Rodeo. Hopefully they are the same length as some other D44's.

ha it's true...the chromoly shafts make me feel a bit better on the inside though .

This coming Jan and Feb I plan on swapping in a front D50 (maybe some Chromoly Shafts) and a rear D60...then I should feel much better.
