does anyone make a cold air intake for the 4.0???

There's a lot of brands. K&N makes but expensive, if you want cheap you can go with max air or something like that. Check out JDsoffroad.com he has one that isn't bad. Just search around there's a lot of brands that to them. It also depends on what year you have. Airaid makes one for the 4.0L but for some reason only for 99 and up.

cold air intake on the cheep

I went to auto-zone and bought a fipk for a Honda accord and 'modified' it to fit my 98 GC 4.0, cost around 40 bucks including the filter . I also made a heat shield just like the k&n heat shield out of some scrap metal laying in the yard..... [smilie=bal_cool.gif]

I used to build custom cabinets, so i went to the K&N website and downloaded a pic of thier heat sheild and made a proto out of foam board then cut it with a jig saw with a metal bade. went to town and had it bent at a wielding shop on thier metal break. let me know and i'll try to get you a good pic of my pattern so you can do the same if ya wanna. my last mod was some lund hood scoops, lookin good

dj98zj, I can help ya get in under 60 bucks with a cold air intake ;) I think the tube is around 30 bucks and the filter is 20?? let me know and i'll get the #'s you need for AutoZone and Advance auto parts stores. I've done two so far in my driveway ( mine first , then my wife's) and they work great
 of course wifey doesnt know ;) why she's gettin better mileage

Ok so how can I make a heat shield? I work in a machine shop, scrap aluminum won't be a problem...or can you just buy it somewhere? If it's not hard to make, can ya give some steps or a site for that please? I just got my jeep, first vehicle I actually paid for, and I love it already, just getting it all set up now and starting to mod it over time.

I got a NIB Rusty's on ebay for $40 shipped. Bolt in, but no heat shield. Mileage went about about 1mpg in town. I am going to attempt a homemade shield soon. My wife doesn't know either. I just told her it was a replacement part.

I found a new thing at auto zone. they have piece's you can buy to make your own intake as long or as short as you want. they have 45's 90's 3 in straights and 6 in straights. If you made a short one it would not cost anymore that about $50-$60 with the reusable filter! [smilie=bal_cool.gif]
