I just read my manual and it says that ZJ needs axles fluid replacement every 12K miles. Is that a must or I just can simply ignore it? Do you guys change your axle fluid often? 12K miles for axle fluid replacement is sounds weird because my ford explorer just need axle fluid to be replaced every 100K (axle fluid last longer than the car, it is not yet hit 100K and everything seems to be wrong in that exploder).
The dealer recommends me to replace my axles fluid since I bought my ZJ used (right now I have 70K on it). They also recommend synthetic fluid over the cheap normal fluid for the axles. Is there any advantage of using synthetic fluid over the cheap normal fluid ?

I'd say 12K is a little drastic. Unless you're running through water and mud over the axles all the time. 40K-50K is probably a more reasonable strectch. If you just bought it though changing every fluid is something to consider. As for synthetic, I only use it in the D44A with a lsd because that's what's called for. Otherwise I use standard diff fluid.
