:? Well, i have antifreeze leaking from somewhere. The other day it was leaking from the front end of my jeep, so i thought i was the lower radiator hose, but today it all looked dry. Well, i drove my Jeep again and it started leaking again, but not from the front, from the "middle" of the engine area. I couldn't exactly see where in the middle it was leaking from, but the wet spot on the ground was under my oilpan and tranny housing.

Anyone experience this and know what it could be? The water pump looks dry, the radiator and all hoses are dry, so i have no idea what it could be now.

Thanks
Justin

leak

I would say, double check your water pump again. Mine recently started leaking and at first I could not tell where the leak was either, as the antifreeze had funny way of travelling from the pump down some hoses and so forth before it landed on the driveway. To complicate matters, it didnt leak all of the time so the first few months or so. Originally thought it was the radiator but after closer inspection found it to be the water pump, and at $35 from the local parts place, I was relieved. I know a radiator waould have been far more expensive..Well only a guess, but good luck...

Mine was doing the same thing a few weeks ago. I thought it was the pump. It was a small leak at first but started getting worse. I went wheeling one weekend and gunned the engine and all of the sudden there are billowing clouds of steam coming out the engine bay  Turns out, I had a small hole in the upper rad. hose that I couldn't see until I made it even bigger and blew the entire contents of my radiator all over the trail. I cut the end of the hose off, reclamped it, no more leak!

If you're ever NOT SURE of a cooling system leak, and you are almost to the "let's just replace something to see if that's it" stage, go to a shop and pay them a few bucks to slap a pressure tester on there. It's something that looks like the combination a keg tap and a bike pump, and it pumps air into your system and finds, for instance, pinhole leaks. They might charge you $30 as a minimum, but dude, that could save you a hundo that you'd otherwise spend in unneeded parts (not to mention your time).

Good luck

Sounds like the pump is on the way out....there's a small weep hole that leaks when the pump seals start to wear down.

It's suppose to be a warning sign!!!

Run the engine and watch the weep hole to check.
Where exactly is the weep hole? I tried to look for it but i don't think i found it.

Trango- yeah a friend of mine and i are going to run a pressure test tomorrow to see if we can find the leak.

Thanks guys for your help.
