Does your front axle have dana 30 knuckles? If so, alot of people complain about wearing balljoints with ram assist.

Donald
Don, no I believe it has true 44 outers, spindles, etc. Good to hear that you got the problem fixed, how has it been since then?

It is nice. noise free again. the pulling problem is greatly reduced to the point that I can only feel it sometimes but not obvious at all. I am thinking maybe the passenger ball joint is giving out too. I can wiggle it very slightly when I jack up the car. Does anyone know any heavy duty ball joint for 44?

Just installed the Taurus fan & a custom shroud with new AC condenser.
The car changes from overheating on traffic driving with AC to overheating on freeway at 65 mph even without AC.
At local driving the car is very cool. So this Taurus fan gives me the same result as my last black magic fan. Actually I think black magic runs cooler on the street than Taurus according to my gauge.
So at this time I am really out of clue.
This is the third time I switch back & forth between electric & clutch fan.
Was it the transmission overheating (it was a one year old rebuilt)? or just the engine is simply working too hard with the weight & wind resistance from the lift? If that is the case, why my car will get overheated with clutch fan while parked with AC on? there is no strain on the engine when parked?

Clutch fans work great when the engine RPMs are up but poorly at idle. Elec. fans shine at low RPM because they do not depend on the engine to spin it. I have been battling simlar cooling issues for 2 or 3 years now. I have added huge louvers to the hood, flow cooler water pump, 5.9 e-fan, all metal radiator, etc. My Jeep stays cool around town and on the trail regardless of temp but if it gets above 75 or so outside I can't drive it on the highway. Makes it a real pain to get to Moab in the summer!

so on another word, I will never be able to resolve the issue & there is nothing wrong with my car?

Cooling problems are a PITA to figure out sometime. I know Justin has been messing with it for years. My old 4.0 would overheat on the freeway, but run cool otherwise even in heat. I changed about everything before I did hte fan clutch and that solved my problem.

Is it possible that their is some blockage in the engine block preventing coolant from getting through?

See those Hella lights on my bumper in the picture below? They make a 10 degree difference in the coolant temperature. I've done the experiment twice, once last summer and once again early December. Put 'em on drive it, take 'em off drive it and got the same result both times. Something to think about if you haven't already . . .

I looked at my Hella light, they are pretty far apart & not blocking the grill at all. the grill it self block 40% of the wind passage.

No, I would not say it is right or that it can't be fixed but as Cody said it can be a serious PITA. Right now I am down to likely pulling the rad. and switching to another and pulling the A/C condensor and power washing it. If that does not work I may ditch the A/C all together.

I think my mechanic finally reslove the issue!

First of all, he said the temp probe is interfered by the outside cool air at high speed, so the temp setting on the control box was not accurate, because it was set when the car was not moving. And he turned the temp adjustment to minimum to offset the wrong reading. He prefers a temp sensor that measure the real engine temp (or water temp), not the probe that wedge into the radiator.

Secondly, he pulled the thermostate for higher water flow.

I drove on the freeway for 30 min today and the temp never pass the middle, instead of 3/4 on yesterday.

Hopfully this is it.

Got a minor face lift for a more modern look!

Sorry! I forgot to take a pic with HID on!
The result of the face lift is engine temperature got cooler, and I am able to climb the hill on the freeway to work with out turning overdrive off. There was actually a lot of air drag with the old big round lights on roof rack.
