let me share a picture with you and you tell me whats wrong with this picture. The sway bar not disco'ed is a gimmie, so that obviously isnt it. No, nothing is wrong with the 44 either.

Just guess but your winch looks like it has too much line for your spool but like I said it's just a guess. ;)

" There is still a Dana 30 under there."

So I just sat and examined that photo for like 5 minutes going "what is wrong in this picture..... come on..... ..... I know I'm not an idiot..... Wait..... no, the steering linkage is fine..... maybe something in the background.....wheres Waldo."

Come on naturalbornmudder, can't pull that kind of thing on me this early in the mourning.

haha, that's funny! I was going to say, no steering box skid!

You are right. I was just putting yukon axles and an aussie in mine and there were a lot of metal flakes when i drained pulled the cover. Much to my dismay, every bearing in that thing was eaten up and my jeep only has 65k on the axle. Fortunately, the carrier races weren't messed up and not a total loss. I've owned 3 5.9's and all of them have needed bearings around that same mileage. I guess they had crappy bearings in them out of the factory that didn't last very long.

an unusual and frequent problem I have been running in to is that because of the rear longarms, I have been shearing off track bar relocation bracket bolts about every 2 months or so.
It looks like it is time to 4 link and ditch the rear track bar [smilie=bal_cool.gif]

Are you running an adjustable trac bar? I've heard nothing but horror stories about the relocation brackets. I've had no problems with the JKS adjustable bar on mine.

I am running a stock track bar on a relocation bracket because there isnt much point in buying an adjustable when I am doing an axle swap again soon, along with 4 link and other goodies.
Even with the cheapo bracket and running 35's, my TJ still does better than 640 on a 30* RTI, so I can't complain about it too much.

your the man! That write up kicks ass and im much more glad that I have a 44 under my ZJ! Heres a pic of my rear...LMAO. This is before the brake setup and with the clayton's truss and a truss and skidplate of my own.

I took the 44a yoke off of the axle, along with my driveshaft to Napa and explained what I needed to do. They sold me a hybrid U joint, which was longer and larger diameter on one side then the other, therefore allowing the driveshaft I had to mate to the 44a yoke without swapping driveshafts.

If you are performing the D35 to D44al swap.... This is the U-Joint you need, its a 1310 to 1330 "conversion joint" also known as a "B@stard joint":
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=NEP&MfrPartNumber=10134

I have spent the last 2 days searching for that joint. Literally, back and forth between napa and my house (couldn't get pinion to budge, almost threw out my back) 10 or more times.

ive been tear my hair out looking for on of those. thanks for the tip wes [smilie=bal_cool.gif]

no prob.... I must have gone back and forth between napa and my house 10 times because I couldn't get the pinion yoke off and had to test fit the joint and when it didn't fit head back to napa. Finally the last time I was there I bought a digital caliper($65) and measured it when I got back to the house.

Wrote down the measurements I needed:
1.063 x 3.219
1.063 x 3.622

I then began scouring the internet for joints. Came across Neapco's "2005 Universal Joint Catalog" and found the part number. Searched partsamerica, napaonline, summit, and a few other sites. Finally found one through partsamerica who distributes to Advanced. Called Advanced with the part number and they had several in stock.

The thing that pisses me off is the first place I went looking for that joint was Advanced, because it's right down the street from my house. They told me I'd have to go to Napa!!!!

And so, this ends the quest for the bless'ed U-Joint.
