any tips for changing the spindle nuts?tools needed?it is a spindle nut wrench i would need or will a 38mm socket work just the same?i would like to learn how to work on my heap.just for something that basically holds the wheel on,doing it myself for the first time seems questionable.

I had to look back through your thread to make sure you had lockouts or if you were calling something else a spindle nut (some call an axle nut a spindle nut for some reason). The nut should be keyed so the ones I've done won't allow a standard socket to work. There is a wrench you can get to pull the nut but you can also use a punch to loosen the nut as well. Take the punch and angle it down toward one of the keyed notches on the nut and tap it off with a hammer. This usually will loosen the nut fairly easily. Watch the order of the parts when you remove them. Remove the bearing, clean and repack them and revearse the install. Do a quick search on here/mallcrawlin and pirate. Should be pretty easy to find a write up on it.
