Well, I guess I should get on here and introduce myself.
I'm Gary and I'm a Jeepaholic.
Everybody: Hello Gary!
Sorry, couldn't resist!
Ok, seriously, I have had a bunch of Jeeps including a '53 Willys station wagon 4x4 (wish I could find the pictures) so I'm not new to Jeeps but this is my first Grand. I must say I'm impressed. When Jeep first came out with the GC, like many CJ and Wrangler owners I sort of laughed at them and put them down, called them Soccer Mommy mobiles, but since I got this one and have taken it wheeling a few times, I'm not laughing anymore. These are tough little beasts! All Jeep for sure! I went out on a trail ride with a local club and was up against a bunch of TJs and JKs (mostly Rubis too) and kept up with them on what I later found out wasn't really a stocker friendly trail. Other than I tore off a mudflap and put a small dent in a rocker panel, it did pretty good
Anyway here's my ZJ:
It's all stock except for the 30's that were on it when I got it. I bought it from a friend who got it from the original owner. It's been babied from day one, everything documented and it's never been off road before I got it.
I plan to keep it fairly "mild" since this is my DD, probably just a 3.5 RE lift and maybe 32s. Since it has the 4.0, I would like to regear it to make up for the taller tires and I really want to put selectable lockers in too but not sure what to do with that D35 in back. Any suggestions? I know about the 8.8 swaps but I don't know anyone I trust who can weld and I certainly don't trust myself to do it. I would do a Dana 44a but I really want that selectable locker and they aren't available for a 44a.
Oh, and before anyone asks, I fly R/C airplanes and love old warbirds, especially the P-51 Mustang, hence the "Warhorse" name.
Gary.
