My stance is that you should always keep up on changing the filter and fluid. It is my opinion that doing a driveway flush through the cooler lines with a bucket is a cool idea. Let the tranny change it's own fluid via normal function.

That aside, I do agree with the argument against hooking up that flush machine and doing the full flush on an auto with high miles. This is particularly true I think if your auto shows signs of neglect like burnt fluid that stinks of death.

I too have heard too many stories of guys getting the full flush on their 150,000 plus mile rig and the trans burns up a couple weeks later. The mechanic I use regularly doesn't like using his flush machine. Not because he is a transmission expert but because he is sick of the customer's car or truck coming back two weeks later on a flat bed claiming he "broke" their transmission. It worked fine before they dropped it off for it's first ever full flush and filter.

But yeah, keep up on the pan and filter.
