Hi,

Its time for a tranny fluid change.. and I have a question for you guys..
Do you think its will be OK to use ATF+4 (I guess I have ATF+3 in my tranny now) and mix it with whatever fluid that I have in my tranny ?? I'm planning to just drop the pan and change the filter (not flushing the whole tranny)...

Thanks..

I think you should be ok using the ATF +4 with the ATF +3 you have in your tranny. You can't do a reverse, use +3 in +4, from what I understand via Daimler Chrysler...I just wish they had stuck with Ford/GM style fluids as this ATF +2/+3/+4 stuff only confuses what shouldn't be so troublesome...traintrackker

changed all the fluids and it shift wayyyyy smoother compared when it was before (filled with ATF+3)...
ATF+4 really worth for the money...

+4 is just the new Chrysler fluid... so of course is expensive and hard to find. Think about it this way.... Let's say you use +4. I'd imagine that you really can't mix the two, so you'd have to flush the tranny.

Now, let's say your on a trail ride... 20 miles out in the woods and a tranny line blows. Your buddy drives you back to town to get some ATF. You'll be lucky enough to find ATF +3... ATF +4... highly doubt it.

Good point about not being able to find +4, I have never seen it available where I live...apparently you can only buy it from the stealers. Your vehicle was not designed around +4 so why worry about it? +4 will just cost more.
