Hey guys, I'm looking for a switched ground wire under the dash. One where the circuit is open when the engine is on, and grounded when the engine is off. I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to this but any help would be great thanks.

He probably wants to hook up one of those LED alarm wanna be things. For low current apps, like the LED, you can just hook it to the ignition wire. It rests at ground and goes hot when the car is on. You could use a relay for higher current apps. With the relay you can do it two ways: negative trigger the relay and use 30 and 87 of the relay or you can positive trigger the realy and use 87a and 30 for your ground output.
Bingo.. yeah an Led.. accept it has 3 wires.. i need a ground, a constant 12v, and a switched ground to active the led when the trucks off...... i have a 95 limited but i've had no luck finding any sort of accessory output for the stock alarm to hook the led to... and i want some sort of way to tell i have an alarm..
thanks guys, i'll try the ign wire today, and see how she goes..
Hey guys, i tried to use the ignition wire today with the LED and no dice.. Sure it works.. but the switched ground (ignition) never goes hot to turn the led off...??
Yeah it does... I have done this to customers cars dozens of times. You need to use the blue/gray wire. It's the ignition wire for the car. It shows a 'ground' when off and goes to positive when the key is on.
Alright she works thanks a ton kszj. You were right, the dark blue/gray wire is the ticket.. but isn't the actual ignition wire yellow/blue? either way it works hahah thanks again..
