Hey all,

Scott from Superchips here. I am just checking in to see if anyone here has had the chance to try out our latest Jeep programmer and to see what you thought about it?

Your feedback is much appreciated.

Scott can you send me the Dyno chart for the 98 5.9 magnum? i have a hard time believing the claimed gains

I second that question! =)

I really need to order one of these.

Sick....I want one! =)

Anyone use this 3875 on a 98' 5.9L? I have 2 of them and want it for performance, but mostly so I can run 87 octane & hopefully get better gas mileage then 13 MPG! :-(
I'm ready to order 1. I've done some reseaching and I gather that there is minimal tweaks to the 98' 5.9L, its designed more for the later models. I have 1 98' with a bb, the other soon to have 5.5" RE lift and 33s or 35s.

the only reason you can run your 59 on 87 octane now is because its worn out. from the factory it required 91 octane.

if your investing in it you'll probably want to run atleast 89 in it to avoid pinging, the PERFORMANCE setting on the superchip requires 91. if you arent looking for performance and are more interested in economy i dont think it will be a very good bang for your buck to get a tuner. just be happy your performance motor has lost enough compression to use the cheaper fuel

I've been running 91 or even 93 octane in my 2 98' 5.9Ls all along, well actually I tried 87 a few times on vacation and it pinged a bit so I upped to octane right away. 1 has 145K miles the other 220K. just want to keep the prices down since these are such gas hogs with the V8 & 249 full time 4x4. I'm planning on putting in a 231 or 242 t-cases soon to get the 2 wheel drive mode which will be used 95% of the time anyways.

Was looking to get feedback on the speedchips programmer for my 2 98' 5.9Ls. I want to get performance out of them too, but want to be able to run 87' mostly if I'm just tooling around on a long road trip or back and forth to work. I plan to run 33 or 35s on 1 of them with a 6" lift so I'd like to dial in the tires and performance for this mod.

i doubt anyone else has bought one for gas saving reasons, there is no tune to run less compression and idk why you'd want to.

you wont save much gas going to 2wd either. if you want less drag on your driveline you want to get some disconnect hubs and a different t case. if you just put it in 2wd your front axle and driveshaft will still be turning unless you disconnect the hubs.

if you want to know the performance gains available look at the dyno chart i requested for the same vehicle only one page back

You're right thanks Zach. I've had lots of Jeeps (Wrangler YJs, XJs, now a few ZJs 4.0/5.2/5.9) and I know they have the front axle drag from the lack of manual lockout hubs.
I have HP44/9" in my 91' XJ, I'm tempted to put that drivetrain in my 98' 5.9L with the 241 rock-trac 4:1, axles have 5.38 gears and detroits, would make that ZJ a real monster! :)
I'll look at your data, thanks bud!

I've had some 2.5L YJs that were real gas hogs because you needed to put the pedal to the metal to get that thing going! LOL I would like to get better MPG, but if I could uncork this ZJ a bit I'd be o.k. with running premium gas and the not so great MPG but I'd like to get the horse around 300 fairly cheaply. :)

Hello

I have ordered one today for my 2004 WJ Overland (4.7HO). My doubt is that i live in Chile, and here we have only 93, 95 and 97 octanes fuel.

Do i have to consider something?, which will be the best fuel for the Jeep With the programmer installed?

Thanks

Mariano

I would contact superchips directly.

If those octane levels listed are Ethanol based I can't guarantee that the product will function properly since we never tested or created Ethanol based files due to the limited availability vs. Gasoline here in the states.

You also have to take into account emissions standards being different in Chile which might cause issues getting the product to connect.

Let me know when you get the product if you have issues getting it connected to your vehicle. I might be able to help.

Just a heads up to everyone, with exhaust/intake and the superchips 87 tune I did manage to get some pinging when running it hard when I was running Oregon Trail Rally in May. Temps were in the 80's outside and the fuel I purchased at a 76 station was questionable. I ended up running 89 the rest of the weekend to clear it up, as it was pretty bad.

I tend to blame the fuel station for crappy gas. I'd just beware of where you guys fuel up.

Scott, any progress on the speedo correction for the 99 WJ? I am ready to buy one, but just can't make the jump until the programming will fix my speedo.

I have seen that the speedo correction currently only works for the newer WJ's (02-04 I think).

#58 ·
Thanks Scott! I really want to have my speedo correct. The other power benefits are great, but the main reason I want it is for the Speedo.

#60 ·
I am just glad they are looking into it. I have read many articles on the power increase benefits. Others have reported that they like the way trans reacts to the changes as well. Those will be the frosting on the cake. If I can get a speedo that reads right, and have those other benefits...you will have another customer!

Have 3875 Flashpaq loaded into my 03 WJ.
Now, it works like it should when tuning, and love it; but when I pull up the Data Acq, it seems it will only work after I have programmed the truck, and even thats spotty. The truck does have the J1850 comm standard, I also have a issue where the tand it will say comm not found. Also the tuner cuts off and back on again, the connections to the DLC are tight.
