Has anyone ever just removed the side moldings from the doors? How difficult is it? How does it look with the pieces taken off?
I have a 2000 GC with cracked moldings, Thinking about just taking them off and being done with them. All opinions are welcome, any pics would also help. Thanks.
 
I do believe that there are holes/slots on the body for the body side molding clips to snap in to. I can't imagine it would look good at all.
 
The panels on the side you just pull off, it is held on by clips on the top that just pop off and double sided tape along the bottom. The lower panel that runs along the bottom is a little more tricky as the clips break. There are quite a few holes behind the cladding so I recommend just painting it and leaving it on.
 
I had to remove mine for trimming when I installed my flares. It woud leave holes in the body that would need to be sealed. Here is a pic:
