Rear end... Are you happy with your Limited slip?

Hey guys, currently I have an 8.8 in the rear like a lot of people. I made the mistake of pulling one from a u-pull yard that did not have limited slip, and being I am completely open front and rear I would like to start addressing this "problem".

I am thinking of putting in a stock 8.8 LS carrier/parts.

Who runs one, and how well does it work? The only other option seems to be a detroit locker $600+ and I dont really have that kind of money to drop right now.

Is it worth finding one and putting it in? Anyone had one and ended up switching to a real locker after dealing with a limited slip?

All input appreciated.
Thanks guys

who said it wont?
then get an aussie or another lunchbox. iv seen d44a's with aussies and 35s all over the forums and theyv had no problems
and if you think a powertrax wont hold up to 35s, then how would a LSD?

one more point to make with the lsd vs locker
as im sure you know (if ya dont then youll learn something new here), you gotta reset up gears when you install a limited slip.

meaning new parts. plus youll want to get a clutch rebuild kit for the lsd because used are usually worn out or close to it. then if you dont know how to set up your own gears, you gotta take it to the shop and theyll charge prolly 200+. if you know how to do it yourself or have a friend who can thats great, but its still a PITA.

so basically by time you buy a lsd, clutch rebuild, other parts for gear set up, youll be on your way to buying yourself a locker. believe me i know first hand. i bought a factory 44a traklock from somebody on MC couple years back, bought all new rebuild clutches and an axle rebuild kit to install it. by time i spend that i had enough for a locker. ended up selling all those parts this summer (never got around to getting it installed) and bought myself an aussie.

just something to think about

I went through a bunch of effort once to get a limited slip in an old blazer I used to have.

When I really needed it to work, it would slip. Ended up going with a locker and not looking back.

you will be fine with a lunchbox locker and an 8.8 on 35's. Check Ebay or look around on the jeep boards and see if you can pick one up cheap.
