Hi Guys - I am having a hell of a time getting my pitman arm off to replace steering gear box. My first puller broke - then went and picked up a heavy duty puller from Autozone.

I think one issue could be the front sway bar. The puller is large and may be getting in the way of the tools range of motion to pull down?

Anyone have tips on how to get this damn thing off??

Does anyone know if I need to remove sway bar to remove? I have the service manual and all it says is to use a puller to remove.

Any tips on how anyone has gotten this off?

I currently have the jeep sitting with tires straight - not jacked up on anything. Any advice would be awesome as I have to have this thing running tomorrow to get to work!

Thanks all!

I just replaced my gear box and took the gear box out of the ZJ with the pitman arm still on it and put it on my work bench and took my extended pitman arm off with a heavy duty puller and impact gun. easy as that.
