Hey guys.
I bought a brand new 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo around a year and a half ago and love it. However, I have some noise issues. My first big issue is a high pitched noise, either a whine or a moan, coming from the transmission area on certain occasions. First I hear the noise when I switch from Drive to Reverse, and from Reverse to Drive; however, I do not hear the noise when I switch to Neutral, or from Park to Drive or Park to Reverse. I also hear the noise when accelerating from a red light or stop sign, and I hear the noise when coming to a stop. Something interesting I noticed but not sure if its related; the Economy Symbol on the dash is supposed to tell me when Im driving and saving the most gas. When coming to a red light I press on the break and come to a stop. At the same time as the economy symbol turns off, the whining moaning noise is made from the transmission area.
2 things were done so far to fix the problem, both were failed attempts. 1st they replaced the valve body. And then they reluctantly changed the transmission. Neither worked.
Thats my major concern, it bothers the hell out of me hearing that noise, its especially annoying in traffic. But speaking of traffic I come to problem number 2. When I come to a nice slow stop I feel a "bang" in the peddle coming from the transmission. Not sure if its normal, but it sounds like a hard shift from 2nd to 1st gear. Cant feel it in the passenger seat, but can def feel it through the peddle.
Someone had mentioned that perhaps the moaning noise is coming from the transfer case, someone else said a belt in the engine. If you have any info on any of the two noises please, but im more concerned about the whining...it drives me crazy.
Thanks
