Ok, well a while ago there was a thread about the Rusty's LA kit's control arms wearing out due to a lack of a lock nut on the arm. So i decided today to go run around and look for somewhere that might have nuts that would thread onto the arm's threads. I found no one. They all looked at me like i was crazy and said i should get a machine shop to custom make some nuts for me, which would cost in the hundreds of dollars i'm sure. Can anyone point me in a direction?

The arms are 1 1/4" OD, but i don't know the thread pitch.

they have tons of hardware stuff, but you'll have to know the thread pitch before ordering.

Rusty's doesn't carry any that i could find, but i'll try that other place. They look promising.

Ahh, McMaster-Carr, gotta love em. I don't think they will have them though. I use McMaster 2-3 times a week and haven't found due to the wierd thread on these.

If the threads were cut to a standard size then you should be able to find nuts for it. Have you been to a good nut and bolt hardware only store? If they didn't have it then the thread pitch is likely Rusty's own creation, another strike against his stuff.

If they don't make a tap for it then you will need a CNC machine, an I.D. thread cutter and a good machinist.

I just picked a couple up from a company called A@A bolt and screw. They cost me 36 bucks for 2, although they are about an inch thick compared to rusty's which are a 1/2 to 3/4 thick. I can't remember how much rusty's were. The thread pitch is 1-1/4 x4 acme thread. good luck finding em somewhere.

Yea i went to a store around me that is called Fastenal, which supposedly carries all industrial style fasteners, but the guy looked at me and went "go to a machine shop". He said if they had them they'd be like $6 a piece but a machine shop would be around the $100's. I'm not looking to spending that much. If Rusty's sold something to you gtsom6, can you give me a link?

I think i've exhausted all my reasonable solutions right now.

Haha, that's great Jerry. I really looked all over that site and couldn't find them. Good looking out. I only really need 6 of them so thats 3x26=$78. I guess i'll go empty out the bank account.

I was the orignal post on loose control arms. I called Rusty directly and I think he charged me about that same price. Didn't have any choice

Yea, thats a rip. I'd sell both of my nuts for $10. But then again, they're used heavily. They have seen much action lately though

My nuts came in the mail today. Boy were they shiney. I just figured they would be a little more "beefy" for what i paid for them. O well.
