After much discussion and planning, Pearce and I are pleased to bring you Grand Slam Tellico! This first year event will offer 4x4 Grand Cherokees an opportunity to experience the Upper Tellico ORV area with other Grand Cherokees from around the region, and hopefully the country.

LOCATION- This event will take place on August 8-10, based out of Crawford’s Campground. This campground offers tent and RV sites, clean bathrooms with hot showers, a full 2 bay shop with air and welder, a rock garden, and an RTI ramp. To see more about Crawford’s, visit www.crawfordsattellico.com
I have talked to Steve, and he is prepared for our group. As of March, he has a group pavilion under construction that we will use for a cookout Saturday night, and he is also constructing some cabins for those who don’t wish to brave the elements. Other cabins and hotels are available in the area, but the fun will be at Crawford’s, so I’d recommend staying there.

TRAIL RIDES
Trail Rides will meet at 8:30am and leave no later than 9:00am.
Trail rides will be available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in the following difficulties
Beginner-
Skid Plates, Rocker Protection, tow points front and rear, and 30-31" tires recommended. Smaller vehicles could be considered, but know that you're taking a greater risk of damage with less than the above.
Intermediate- All of the above plus 31-33" tires and some previous driver experience. One locker would help.
Advanced- 33”+ tires and at least one locker, plus the above. Winch advised, body damage is more likely but can be avoided.
*Note*
The trails that we will run will depend largely on weather, group sizes and abilities; weather can change trail conditions at Tellico over night. But expect to have a great time rain or shine!

COST
Upper Tellico ORV area charges $5 per day per vehicle. Please have $5 for each of the days you plan to wheel, fees are paid one day at a time.
The price for the event will be whatever you spend on your campsite (see Crawford’s site) plus a small registration fee for the cookout and pavilion. I will post this fee later, but I do not expect it to exceed $10 per person.

What do I need from you?
If you are interested in attending, post so on this thread so that I can give a preliminary number to Crawfords. Then, once these numbers are in I’ll set the price of the registration fee, and you will make your campground reservations with Crawford’s directly. If we do T-Shirts that cost will be included as part of the registration fee.

For more information on the area, please visit www.tellico4x4.com/murphy/ . If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, don’t hesitate to e-mail or private message me
Look forward to a great time!
Tim

I'm in for sure! Glad you guys could get this organized. I will try to recruit some local ZJers as well that are just getting into the scene. No better place to start out than a Grand Slam.

I've been waiting for this forum!! Thanks for finally helping get this thing going. Now all of us people in Florida Georgia and Alabama can have a ride closer to home well atleast to where I currently live, Michigan is home to me.

 I'm definitely in. Weather permitting, I would like to run Advanced trails at least one of the three days. But I would be happy to help out (tail gunner/waist gunner/spotter/whatever) on the Beginner or Intermediate trails if/as needed too. Just let me know.

I think I can make this. I know I should be settled in by then, and the new wife will have had enough time to get good and tired of me!

So, who's up for some scouting around the first of May? ;)

Tim,
I would come but my new wheelin rig has the wrong letter before the J to come. Let me know your schedule, I might be coming to Tellico this summer but not in the ZJ.

Randy,
I see you are calling me names on another thread, lets be nice :D. I have to keep the ZJ tame since it is my wifes daliy driver and will be traded off latter this year. I am not going any further with it because I will never cut it up to build it to the point I want to get too. The XJ was free so I can cut it up and not be worried about it. You all have fun at GSSE I am sure it will be a blast.

I will be there if something on the heep does not break. Maybe i'll have some real axles by then.Looking foward to meeting all my southern buddies :cuddle:I'll try to get some other grands round up.None of them no what NAGCA is :?

Oh man I've been waiting for this! BUT... my wife gradutes from nursing school that following week and has "informed" me that theres no way we could get away that weekend. Maybe I'll tell her I have to go to see my brother up in Boone N.C. (who is actually at the Jeep Jamboree this weekend, man I hate Florida!) Don't count me out yet!

Scott-
Let me know a few weekends beforehand and I'll be glad to show you around tellico. I've got some experience with some of the harder stuff now... 36s and lockers is friggin cool!
Tim

Count me in, assuming I can get off work, or maybe i'll just quit if they don't let me. If me, Cam, and b1pig all make it thats all 3 converted ZJs. Yeah!
