After doing the 242 swap in my '97 Ltd. the InfoCenter is always stating "SERVICE 4WD SWITCH" whenever it is shifted into 4WD Full Time or 4LO and the lit up drive wheels are never correct (not that I really care about that). It seems to read the error for a while then quits until the ignition is turned off and back on or it is shifted back into 2WD (what used to be the 249's 4WD Full Time position). The transfer case has the original 242 switch in it, but it must be sending a signal that either the computer or the InfoCenter itself cannot understand, since the Jeep was shipped with the 249. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this and/or knows how to remedy the issue, to make it read like it is an original Select Trac model.
Would putting in an InfoCenter out of a 242 model cure that?
