Well my heater core crapped out on me yesterday so tommorow I'm gonna tear into it. I just cant justify spending $1000+ at a shop to replace it. I'm wondering if there are any write up's on this or if anyone has any tips to making this go as smothly as possible. thanks

I couldn't find any writeups for you, but i just know that its a real pain. You have to basically rip up the whole dash. I did this project on a 325i BMW and it took probably 4 hours. We had to remove the steering wheel and all the dash pieces and air bags. Real pain. I think if you just look around and find all the screws, it won't be a problem, GC dashes aren't brain surgery.

you have to look at from the standpoint, that the dash was installed as a complete unit. if you remove it as such it will make life alot easier.
also here are a few tips
1. remove the center counsel(it makes it easy to remove the braket behind the ash tray area)
2. remove both a-pillar trim pieces (keeps them from getting marked up)
3. leave the heater hoses attached to the core, just turn both clamps towards each other. disconnect them at the eng. its much easier.(note. on the right side hose disconnect@ the coupler near the t-body)
4. there's a an attaching bolt for the heater case on the fire-wall behind the t-body(this get alot of people)

it's not a bad job really, i'm a tech at a dealer and i can get them done in about 3.5 hrs
just take your time
hope this helps
