you didn't mention if you have a 249 or 242 tc. if it is the 249, i would agree w/ above that the VC might be going out (beginning to bind).

also, jeeps have a really tight turning radius and w/ the wheel at full lock, there is a lot of force on the outer tire. you also didn't mention if you have an open diff, stock gears, etc.

if you have a 242 tc, put the front axle on jack stands, turn the wheel to full lock and rotate the diff to see if you can make it bind.

try putting it on stands and testing it. could be your CV/ujoint binding for some reason.

a simple fix would be adjusting the turn stops to prevent you from turning so tight.
