I've noticed this a few times in the past few weeks. Sometimes when I turn at low speed at full lock I can feel the front bind and hear the tire slip like the diff isn't differentiating in the turn. I'm not sure what the cause could be. I'm not terribly worried about it since I will only be driving it for another month then I'm off to boot camp and it will sit for 6 months and then get a HP D30 when I get back, but if this isn't an axle problem, I'd like to know. I do know the pinion bearing is shot and I have a bit of a fluid leak, so this could be causing it.

you didn't mention if you have a 249 or 242 tc. if it is the 249, i would agree w/ above that the VC might be going out (beginning to bind).

also, jeeps have a really tight turning radius and w/ the wheel at full lock, there is a lot of force on the outer tire. you also didn't mention if you have an open diff, stock gears, etc.

if you have a 242 tc, put the front axle on jack stands, turn the wheel to full lock and rotate the diff to see if you can make it bind.

just my 2cents.

I have a 242 Tcase with open diffs and 3.73s. It does not do it often, in fact it's only done it maybe 3 times in the last 3 weeks. It is the inside tire that seems like it's binding/slipping.

try putting it on stands and testing it. could be your CV/ujoint binding for some reason.

a simple fix would be adjusting the turn stops to prevent you from turning so tight.

could be your wheelbearings that act differently under the load of turning. but i would pop off the diff cover and check for metal shavings in the diff and make sure the gears are looking good. your axle u joints like stated above as well. you have cv or u jointed axles?
