Hey there,

My information sensor in my 5.9 is beeping telling me something about the Coolant Sensor.

I honestly didn't know there was a Coolant Sensor.

Anyway, what do i need to do to fix this?

Thanks.

Coolant Sensor - Replace

There's actually 2 sensors for the coolant... temp and level. The temp sensor is basically a screw off sensor in the metal hose beside the coolant tank, and the level sensor is in the coolant tank cap. both are easily removed, and you can go to your local pull-a-part or salvage yard and get both of them there for $5.

Mine was doing the same thing ... an annoying beep with a message telling me my coolant sensor was bad. This is the sensor telling the coolant level not the temperature sensor. I replaced it with a new one and still got the stupid message so I just gave up and live with it.

If you think about this message its kind of silly. I can see having a message telling you the coolant level is low but here they must have a sensor telling you your sensor is bad. A sensor sensor. Where will it end...

If it's the Coolant Level Sensor warning that's a very common problem. It might actually be the sensor but it usually turns out to be the VIC itself and not the sensor.
There are writeups around for resoldering some cold solder joints in the back of the VIC. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

The temp sensing for the PCM and the gauge on a 98 is done by the Coolant Temp Sensor located by the thermostat housing - very hard to see down behind the AC compressor.
The older OBDI ZJs had a separate temp sensor for the gauge. Right behind the alternator and easy to see.

If you are getting a VIC message it's most likely the VIC or the level sensor.
An actual Coolant Temp Sensor problem would throw a CEL but would not show on the VIC.

My VIC tells me everything from "taillight error","coolant error", to "washer fluid low", when they are all good. You are lucky if you get just one complaint out of it. My typical response would be "remove the VIC and throw as far away as you can", but you sound like your GC is better off than mine, good luck getting back to zero!
