Hi all, I was wondering what is the best cold air intake for my '97 ZJ V8? I see that the K&N FIPK is pretty popular, does anyone run this one, or is there something better out there. All Im really trying to do is get better gas milage, it went down a bit since I but on the 31's, now Im only gettin about 14-15 mpg now on the highway. Also I was thinkin about maybe a performance computer, what do ya think? :?

Is it really worth it, did ya notice any differance with it?
Worth it... yes... Comes with a nice heat shield, everything's plastic (better resistance to heat than metal), nice 6x9" filter (reusable so I'm going to get 1,000,000 miles outa the thing) and it's got an awesome warantee.

Just an IMO though

Mixed opinions on the K&N being worth all that $$$$$$

Personally I replaced my factory filter with an Amsoil Flowzair filter in the OEM box and then I opened the front of the air tube behind the grill...creating better air flow to the box.

The K&N makes a huge difference. It actually felt better in the 5.2 I had before. The few times I've switched back to stock it's noticably slower, I know it's not just my butt dyno either. With the K&N in and bigger heavier tires(8 ply 245/70 BFGs) I pulled away from another 5.9 ltd while messing around on the freeway.

This is the only mod I've literally 'felt'.

I did not notice any mpg difference.

Yeah I ripped that air tube thing out and folded back the thin piece of rubber that covered the hole and clamped it so air would flow easily.
