I am trying to fix the radio on the Orvis. The guy I bought it off took out the factory radio and cut the 2 connectors off and just joined the wires to the aftermarket radio, what an ***. I am trying to work out which colour wires go where

The scan tool is a seperate issue from the radio, sorry to mix them up. The guy took out the factory radio to fit an aftermarket. But he just cut off the connectors and left the wires there. I have the original header unit and have bought new connectors but dont know which wire goes where. I bought the Jeep last weekend and the radio had been taken out and nothing new put in.

I hard wired my after market one.. Guy you bought it from live far? Ohm meter handy? If yoy find the hot itd be a little easier. The speakers should be kinda paired up? What so you see.. I could pop mine out I guess.vdo you know what's what on the Connection for the factory deck?

By our standards he lives far and he would be no help, I have already asked.
I tried yesterday following a wire color scheme I found online but I got no sound. Its trial and error until it works I guess.

Just to close this off, I got the radio wired up, working and installed. A wiring puzzle but solved now.
I would still appreciate any advice on a code reader.
Glad to here you got it figured out.
I almost purchased a code reader last month but ran short of $$.
If you go to E-bay or Amazon.com you can find a code reader Between the prices of $40-$200 Even $1,000 and more if your a large shop.
For the year you are looking at you need (OBD II) This is a 1996 and newer.
Prior the made OBD1.
Take one day and Read reveiws on them for the best brand in your price range. The ones under $100 can give out on you after a year or two.
Also they have been known to fail when you download the info to your computer.
This is when I say, "you get what you pay for".
But I am a cheap skate. and would buy one from the goodwill.
