Just a couple of weeks ago I became a 97' Grand Cherokee owner. Over all I am very pleased with my purchase and hope to do some modifications very soon.

Just a couple of days ago I have noticed a very rapid clicking noise (not a pop, clunk, chunk or anything like that) when I turn the steering wheel and move at low speeds. I beleive the noise is only coming from the drivers side. Could this be a bearing? I personally don't believe the noise is loud enough. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Check for:
1) debris in wheel rim
2) ripped / failed CV joint boot for front axle shaft (4WD only)
3) debris in antilock brake tone ring (aluminum gear) mounted on hub
4) anti-lock brake mag pickup too close to tone ring (mounted in steering knuckle)
5) worn / loose CV joint

could be a cracked/rusted brake rotor...I might be inclined to think about the gears in the differential. They could be busted. Or check the yoke, where it connects to the hub/axle. I had a Cherokee that had a broken yoke that made the same noise. Look to investigate the axle and hub components, rather than steering linkage.
