anybody that is running one of his zj kits with wide axles... what kind of mods did you have to make to make it work? not looking for exact measurments or anything just an idea of what i might have to change. i was hoping to get away with just small changes, i do not want to change the whole kit. i know the rear upper arm bracket will prob have to be changed because of the size of the centersection of the 14b, but other than that im guessing.

i've got to much going on with family right now to do any fabing myself and i have got to get my gc moving under its own power within 2 mths. so the rear leaves plan i had just will not work in the time frame i have. (dad is selling the lot and building i'm buming for my shop to pay my mothers hospital bills ) so any ideas/help before i order a kit would be great. thanks.

specs if you want:

chevy fullwidth d44 fr and 14bff rear 513 gears
15/38.5/16 boggers

I didnt realize you had a 14 bolt in the rear, speed. so forget everything I said about the 9". Youll definitely need some modifying on the 4-link truss...so good luck on that. Shortening it is easy, lengthening it...might be interesting. I dunno how big the diff is but Im assuming its right arond a D60's size so yeah...you might need to fab a whole new truss (not hard at all). Its just 3 pieces of 3"x3"x3/16" or 1/8" square tubing with some plate for the brackets.

PS. If you have to lengthen or make a taller truss, I'd definiely make a diff skid that bolts to the truss.

Call Clayton? I am sure he could give you some info. I plan on doing the same, fullwidths and claytons kit as well. I too can't fab at this point in time. Luckily some guys down the street from me have a fab shop and can do the welding for me.

i did call clayton today and ordered the kit. i measured the centersection of the 14b before i called and he measured the upper mount for me so i think it will fit. he is a super nice guy, and im glad to spend the cash on his kit. im close to the east coast so i will prob have the kit by the end of next week. im actually looking forward to climbing under that pos to install it. i will take pics even if they are bad ones. our dig.cam has a few hard miles on it.

i think the bracket in the kit will work so maybe i will not have to buy another truss. the moo truss is cool but just a little to "busy" for me, and that boat anchor is heavy enough without adding a whole lot more. i like the simplicity of the bluetorchfab. they are kinda local too(2hr drive) so that also helps my decision a little(i like supporting the locals) and i have ordered from them before , great service.

Don't you have to use a Ford front axle if you're keeping the stock tranfer case (driver side).

I just finished my HP44/D60 swap. What a pain in the ass! SOOO many little things need to be done; the pricetag just kept going up and up. Brake lines, U-joints (offset to match factory driveshafts), lengthen rear axle, shocks, tires/wheels, all new steering, reaming PA to accept new steering, custom brackets to hold shocks, coils, control arms, steering stabilizer.... the list goes on and on.

But the end product was well worth it. But what a PITA; thank god I already had LA's.
