I have an '02 Laredo, can I bleed it the old fashioned way of depressing the pedal and bleeding through the bleeders on the calipers?

Yes.

I was told to not pump the brakes up on the newer vehicles though as this could introduce air into the ABS...I am not sure about this, it is just what I was told.

When I replaced my front calipers, I just bled-let it sit for a minute-bled...so instead of the pump/hold method, I was just rest/hold.

Bleeding brakes

Yep that is correct! Jeep has a special procedure using the DRBIII scanner that activates the ABS motor. Unfortunately, after market scanners don't have the ability to Address the ABS System in this manner.

I have read that everything from getting air into the ABS to causing internal damage.

Things do get complicated when you start putting computers in cars! So something as simple as bleeding the brakes has become a dealer job or buy your own DRBIII scanner, $$$$.

Go here to see $$$$ http://www.autoditto.com/drb-iii.html Have not found A CHEAP DRBIII.
