My vehicle is showing a few signs of a plenum leak...
-oil consumption of about a quart for every 1500 miles
-pinging/crackling under heavy acceleration
-on cool mornings i can see slightly more vapor from the exhaust than is normal. (vapor travels to the front of the vehicle before disipating)
I performed a vacuum check and did get a vacuum reading as in step 10 of the TSB. 10. If the attached vacuum I pressure gauge does not indicate that a vacuum is present in the engine crankcase, then the intake manifold plenum pan gasket is good and no further internal engine vacuum leak diagnosis is required
QUESTION 1... How much vacuum is considered bad other than the statement not to exceed 3lbs in the test? I couldn't even achieve a read to the first mark on my gauge. it does show a vacuum is present but like i said, it wont quite go to the first mark. If I put my finger on instead of the gauge, it clearly is sucking the hell out of my finger enough to draw a red circle of blood through my skin.
On the APS website it says,
These plates are precision laser cut 6061 Billet Aluminum 1/4" plates. The kit comes complete with the improved Mopar plenum gasket, Grade-8 Flange Head bolts, 1 bottle of lock-tite, and complete instructions. These plates will virtually eliminate the common problem of leaking due to heat properties of the factory steel plate and can stand up to 12-15# boost and/or Nitrous Oxide without any issues.
QUESTION 2... the statement reads it comes "complete" but just shows the felpro plenum plate gasket but doesn't show the other 4 gaskets required as in fel-pro part number MS95392 .... Does it indeed come with the other 4 required gaskets to make the kit "complete"? Or will I have to purchase additional bolts and gaskets at my local auto parts place?
thanks
