How often do you need to bleed your brakes? I bled mine once this year when I did my calipers. That site makes it sound like bleeding brakes is impossible to do manually...wtf is up with that? There is lots of stuff that can go wrong with that little screw. Why complicate it..

If you need to bleed them do this:
1) Get wife/gf/buddy/neibour to hop inside jeep.
2) Pump pedal until stiff
3) Release pressure using bleeder screw.
4) Repeat 2 and 3 until no air comes out bleeder.
5) Close bleeder and move on to another caliper.
Thats how we do them at the dealer. Takes maybe..5 minutes per caliper. WJ's are a PITA to bleed cause of thier 2 piston setup. It would take you longer going into the jeep, pumping it, coming out to release the presuure and going back in to pump it again.

The reason for the speedbleeder is that my stock bleeder valves were really rusted on and or overtightened. The only way to loosen them originally was through the use of PB blaster and Vise-Grips. So after doing a few brake jobs since I have owned it, the bolts have been "Vise-gripped" to hell and won't take a wrench. I need new valves but rather than buy standard valves, I may as well buy speedbleeders. Probably cheaper than the dealer parts anyways.

They don't sell the stock valves at Pep-boys, maybe carquest or parts plus?

anyone?

Just a FYI Kevin, If you have access to a drum brake d35, I know the bleeder screws from those fit the 8.8 calipers. That is what I am running b/c both my 8.8 ones were stripped. Luck would have it that dumb luck had me walk to the backyard and get the bleeder screws out of the d35 wheel cylinders.

That is lucky,

I just went to Napa today and picked up some standard bleeder screws. I am still running ZJ calipers in back so it is all Jeep when it comes to brakes.
