A/C Service

I would like to service my A/C as I have never had it done before (properly). In the past I have used the can with the gauge on it to charge the system when it was not blowing as cold as I would have liked (later checked the FSM for the ambient/vent temps as well).

What I would like to know is if this set (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=92649) will also SERVICE the system (eg - allow me to connect to and add freon with the gauges connected). Read the instructions tonight and it did not mention connecting to nor adding freon although the description says it can "service" the system.

Is all this is good for is checking the pressure on the hi/low sides?

I really don't have much A/C knowledge so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

hockeyref - thanks.

I bought a tap valve threaded to take the charge hose tonight but have not checked the threads.

I think I will call the mfg. and see what they say. After reading the manual again (for the gauge set) it says that it can be hooked up to the freon source for charging, but they do not go into any detail, nor do I see where it would connect to (like the tao I bought today).

The other puzzling thing is there are two connectors for the charge hose - I am used to seeing only the one [smilie=bal_ask.gif]
