Anyone have any idea where they hid this relay? It's not in the box on the passenger fender with the other relays. It's a little box with a four wire lead on a grounding/heat sink metal tab that screws into the body.
It's a wonderful little solid state relay that costs $60 from the dealer. I'm sure it saved some money in assembly rather than using the old semi reliable mechanical relays that cost $4 each.
If someone can answer tonight, I promise I'll join NAGCA. :D
Thanks,
Fred

remove your front fascia and VOILA!!, there it is.
Hey, try to get the parts guy to sell ya the relay for the mid-late 90's caravan recall part (recall 845 or 771) cant remember which. Its like 30 bucks cheaper!!!!!!!!! Go figure

Front Fascia?

Just tried to pull the front grill? It's also attached to the plastic bumper cover? I couldn't see the relay in the area next to the radiator.
How much crap do I need to remove?
I'm just a simple XJ, MJ mechanic. These fancy Jeeps are too difficult for me.

Thanks,
Fred

Fred, ya its all one piece. Remove the plastic rivets in wheelwells, push pins under radiator support in front and two( I think) bolts under hood on upper radiator support. Then slide fascia forward and off.

I have a '00 GC 4.0 2WD. The fan relay is rediculously placed behind the bumper and a lot of stress. Jeep recommends removing the bumber, etc. Here is the easy way. Remove the passenger headlight. The fan relay is below the headlight bucket. You have to cut a hole through the bucket (everyone does it this way) approx. 3"x3" to expose the relay. If you were to make an imaginary spot on the bucket at dead center. The hole needs to be drilled to the left of the center spot. I suggest drilling a starter hole first so you can see the relay, then using a dremel tool or whatever you have enlarge hole big enough to access the two 8mm screws.
