Hi all, I have a 97 grand Cherokee wth the 4.0. It's got 137xxx on it, just some background. It sputters a lot, like if you can say blup blup blup moderately fast, you know what it sounds like, it idles low (around 500 rpm) and it likes to stall from time to time, not always, just often, it's not throwing any lights, it has the smart oil guage, so I can keep an eye on pressure, I cleaned the iac and reinstalled it, it seems fine (although I'm not to knowledgable about them, I have it parked because I'm just afraid to drive it. Can anyone shed some light on this please?

try a tread search as many answers posted. Have same problem on mine and after changing most of the electrics now believe it is being caused by my alternator not supplying enough power at times. have 174500 miles on my ZJ
