i've been having issues with my 04 grand cherokee lately,, the issue is ,is that the engine light ( looks like a transmisstion ) comes on but doesn't flash, which is a good thing... but heres my problem, when i had my jeep in for serviceing and i had told the dealer about this, they scanned the computer and had came back and told me there was not issues with the computer... nothing happens to my jeep when this light comes on... what might be the problem ? im taking it back to the dealer again .. will the scanner tool pick up the problem weather or not the light is on or off ? im in the dam dark here on this one... ANYONE please help here... thank you folks

Next time you see the code, stop by an autoparts store and have them read the code. Most of them will do it for free.

will a loose gas cap cause a CEL on a Grand?

Yups most cars.... well new cars will actually coast "loose fuel cap" on the dash.

That would be considered a evaporated code. In Maine emissions sticker stations have to have a fuel cap tester.... see if anyone near you might have one and ask if they would test it for u.
